Here’s a rare one featuring U2 and Axl Rose sharing the stage for Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.

Axl Rose and Tom Petty joined forces at the 1989 MTV VMAs to play this song from Petty’s Full Moon Fever album.

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Steven Tyler joined Guns N’ Roses on stage during their Paris concert in 1992 to perform this song as well as Train Kept A Rollin.

On October 30, 1987, Guns N’ Roses performed a set at New York’s famed punk club CBGB. Appetite For Destruction, the band’s first album, had just come out a few months prior to this. If you listen closely during the beginning of the clip, Axl Rose mentions that the band has only played this song twice and that he’s only sung it once, which is why he can be seen reading the lyrics during the performance.

Guns N’ Roses leader Axl Rose has been accused on more than one occasion of homophobia. Rose always maintained that the claims had no basis and that in fact, he idolized gay singers like Freddie Mercury and Elton John. During the 1992 MTV Music Video Awards, Guns N’ Roses teamed up with Elton John to perform their smash hit “November Rain.” Axl Rose and Elton John had shared the stage before, performing “Bohemian Rhapsody” with members of Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, earlier in the year.
