Following the death of their legendary frontman, Queen decided to organize an open-air concert at London’s Wembley Stadium to benefit the The Mercury Phoenix Trust AIDS charity and raise awareness of AIDS. The concert started out with performances from various bands who were influenced by Queen, including Guns N’ Roses, Extreme and Metallica. During the second portion of the concert, different artists would pop up on stage to perform classic Queen songs with the three remaining members of the band. James Hetfield was one of them, as well as Roger Daltrey of The Who.
